1st Crit.

I think our first critique was pretty amazing.

I really can't wait to see what the rest of the group has to offer.
So, after hearing of what some people had to say about my cemetery series, and the very interesting ideas some of them provided, I really have to say this is still the tip of the iceberg. I knew that the monuments conveyed a sense of emotion, but after placing the statues next to a photo of real people something else sparked. Like some of you said, there is a similarity, a sense of connectivity between them, like of what someone/thing someday may become...from
being alive to turning into a cold dead statue to which people mourn to.
Well,
I'm still formulating ideas, i do however see how they relate to each

other thanks to the crit. Perhaps a trip to Peru will be necessary, perhaps not... but i guess that would be ideal to show the daily life right outside the cemetery. I posted these two images to show how similar some of my photos are - not intentionally ... which makes it a bit weird lol - anyhow, I would like to do something of this sort... we'll see how it goes from here ...

1st photo - Immigrant series shot during last year's Winter.

  1. the fact that you say this juxtaposition was unintentional blows my mind...the two shots are obviously similar in the positioning of the 3 figures/statues, but even down to the building minicing the trees and the distant statue mimicing the light post...truly amazing. i think the correlation between the subjects is an interesting one...exposing peruvian culture and lifestyle is just a small bit of it. there is a commentary on life itself and where we all inevitably end up. in essence you are simultaneously exhibiting the lives of peruvians and the lives of all people. also an interesting contrast is the quality of the digital photography. this is a very raw subject matter presented in an elegant manner through the refined aesthetic of the digital shots and prints. i'm eager to see more work.

  2. Hiya! Interesting post.

You recently left a comment on one of my blog posts in which I did a product review and you asked for advice on a toy. I wasn't sure if you would be back to check the comments and also I need to ask a few questions before I can recommend something for you. So if you want, feel free to email me at amorousrocker [at] gmail [dot] com. I'd be happy to give you some recommendations and also get you a discount on buying something if you plan on buying online. Just get back with me if you want. And sorry for using your comments to do this but it's the only way I had to get in touch, lol. No need to actually publish this if you don't want it on your blog. :)
